Big Girl Bed

Anna's room is now finished with the help of Nana this week. Monday, Nana and I worked on getting all of Anna's clothes transferred to her big girl room. Since we got most of that done, we decided to go ahead and let her start sleeping in her big girl bed. I put Anna in her bed at nap time and told her the rules about not getting out of the bed. Then I started to leave. Anna cried for about 2 seconds and then went right to sleep. She slept for over two hours then woke up talking like usual. She talked and stayed in her bed for 30 more minutes until I went in there to get her up! I had been nervous about what she would do when she woke up since she wasn't in her crib. When Ella arrives, I am going to need Anna to play in her bed for a while after her nap.

Monday night was her first night in the bed. Joe and I put her to bed and when we were leaving she said, "I want to sleep in my bed and pointed to Ella's room." We told this was her room now and she went right to sleep without crying. About 11:00 that night, we heard a thump and then Anna crying. We ran in her room to find Anna stuck between the wall and her bed from her waist down. She stopped crying as soon as I held her and then we put her right back down. She slept until after 8:00 the next morning.

Anna first week in her big girl bed has gone really well. I have been nervous about this transition, but she has done great! I am so proud of her, even though this has shown us that she really is a big girl and not a baby any more. Here are pictures of her room.

Daddy reading to Anna before bedtime. One night Joe laid down with Anna and Anna pushed Joe's arm and said, "Go Daddy." She just wanted to go to sleep!

Anna LOVES sitting at her table to color with Nana! I can't wait to have tea parties at this table.

After Monday night's experience, we put pillows along the wall. This was taken right after we put her down one night.

Usually when Anna wakes up from her nap she will say, "Anna's name" because she knows her name is on the wall.

Sophie and Bear on her bed.

Anna is doing great about cleaning up her toys when she is finished playing!

Nana reading Anna books before naptime. Nana puts the book basket on her bed and Anna tells her exactly which book she wants to read.
