Anna has been slobbering for weeks, so I knew she would be getting a tooth soon. I have been feeling in her mouth everyday, but couldn't feel a tooth. Today we were riding in the car and Grandma and I were in the backseat with Anna. Anna kept chewing on my finger and I realized something felt different this time. I looked in her mouth and there it was...her first tooth had broken the skin just a little! She hasn't been fussy today! I hope this new tooth doen't bother her too much.
Today was a very fun day. After Anna's morning nap, we loaded her up to go to Lauren's house. Lauren had been wanting some practice, so we decided to go hiking with Tim and Esther. Thanks Lauren for keeping Anna today! We had alot of fun hiking today, but I realized that I am out of shape and need to hit the gym more. We are not sure how far we hiked. The signs seemed a little off on the milage. We went to House Mountain off Rutledge Pike. It was a great place to hike. We stopped about half-way up the mountain for lunch. We were all very tired by the time we reached the top. We had to be very careful as we hiked because there was lots of poison ivy along the trail (and I am very allergic to it). After we picked Anna up, we treated ourselves to Marble Slab, which was very refreshing!
OK, all you Baby Wise mommies out there... my sister in-law Vicki told me about the book - Baby Wise two. In this book, it talks about starting solid foods and how to teach your child to not grab the spoon while you are feeding them. I have not read this book but I plan on buying it this week. I talked to Vicki today and she told me that she taught Emma to put her hands on the high chair as she was feeding her. I had never thought of this, but it is a great idea. Every time, until today, while we fed Anna, she would grab the spoon, which made it very difficult to feed her. So today, I took Vicki's advice. As soon as I put Anna in the high chair, I put her hands on the tray. I told her to keep her hands there and I would feed her. I know you are probably thinking, you are crazy, she doesn't understand what you are saying...but it was amazing...Anna kept her hands on the tray for about the first two or three minutes of the feeding. Then she took one hand off and I said, "Anna, mommy is not going to feed you until you put your hand back on the tray." I then put her hand back on the tray and she kept it there. I would say in about ten minutes, we only had to put her hand back on the tray about 5 times (which I feel is great for the first time of trying this)!!! Thanks Vicki for the great advice! Keep it coming!!!!!!
Here are pictures from the past few days with our visit with Grandma and Grandpa. We are so glad you all have been here this weekend. We have had so much fun!!

Daddy feeding Anna. Look at her hands!!!
Anna loved spending time with Grandma this weekend.
Grandpa was amazed at how fast Anna ate. He would laugh every time she ate.
Look at my smile.

We were very tired when we finally reached the top. It was a great view though.
